Denmark’s Supreme Court rules: AI-generated child pornography is also punishable by imprisonment
AI BriefingAccording to a Bloomberg report on the 15th, Denmark’s Supreme Court upheld an 18-month prison sentence without parole for a 31-year-old man convicted of possessing and distributing more than 36,000 AI-generated child pornography images. The court ruled that even if the images were not based on real people, they were still subject to Denmark’s Criminal Code, and whether the people depicted were fictional should not be considered in sentencing. The case was Denmark’s first conviction of this kind and prompted a cross-border investigation, in which police identified 273 buyers and arrested 25 people.
